About

Although my degree, a BA in Medical Sciences, is giving me a good grasp of the hard sciences it leaves much to be desired: lecturers offer little advice on how to apply their course content to the real world. As Peter J. Feibelman says in his book A PhD is not enough! ’many professional scientists believe that “good” students find their way on their own’ and my professors are no exception.

This blog will track my progress as I fill the gaps in my knowledge which my degree won’t. As I’m intending to pursue a career in either big-pharma or global health these topics will be the overarching themes of the blog. By reading subject related books, summarizing relevant journal articles and talking to professionals, among other things, I hope to gain a more accurate understanding of what the pharmaceutical industry and global health look like today: the challenges they face, the parties involved and the types of jobs available.

This blog entry by Tim Ferriss and Michael Ellsberg inspired me to start my own blog, to publish and share my growing understanding of global health and the pharmaceutical industry.
